To me Graduation celebrations are and I think will always be such an American concept, but we Brits seem to be embracing the idea with a vengeance, and why not?

Wikipedia’s define the occasion as “Graduation is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the ceremony that is sometimes associated, where students become graduates.  Before the graduation, candidates are referred to as graduands.  The date of graduation is often called graduation day. The graduation itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation.

In the United States and Canada, it is also used to refer to the advancement from a primary or secondary school level”.

So really it is a very worthy celebration, many years of hard work paying off, reaching adulthood and all being celebrated by a final farewell bash, the all important “School Prom”!!

In the UK it seems to be an occasion that is now celebrated at the end of senior school as well as at the end of University.  Even pre-school nurseries are joining in the fun!!

Pinks are getting into the wedding spirit this weekend.  We are busy busy bees.

We are using the most beautiful rose (mainly for the bridal flowers).  It is called ‘Amnesia’.  Really good for achieving a Vintage look.

So we have survived the mad period of Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day & Mother’s Day!  We had 2 Valentine’s Day weddings and 1 over the Mother’s Day weekend which all went swimmingly.

We are now preparing ourselves for the wedding season!

Our florists are busy scouring the magazines for new trends and attending any upcoming workshops and seminars.

For all florists this is a great time of the year.  Don’t get me wrong we enjoy the key dates mentioned above, but it is weddings that allow our creativity and flair to really come into its own.

Did you read our recent blog titled ‘Show us your dress’.  We cannot stress enough the importance of getting the balance right between your flowers, your dress, your style and basically you!

We would love you to pop in to see us and bring in even your dress or a picture of your dress and we can help you decide on the right bouquet and bridal flowers.

We are already very busy with wedding booking so please make sure you book your date asap.  We have a number of weddings booked for Summer and Winter 2013 and Summer 2014.

The summer is a great time to get married in terms of flowers but so are the winter months.  We love the winter colours of silvers and blues or the Christmas reds & greens.  However, with summer fast approaching!! we have our heads into gear with the summer flowers bright and colourful!  Or you cannot beat the monochrome whites & greens.
